The Alabama is also equipped with the latest in electronics including two fishfinders and two global positioning devices to make certain that we are always where the fish are. Onboard you will find plenty of comfortable seating as well as a private restroom. When you are back at the Naples City Boat Dock the day’s catch is cleaned and bagged at no charge.

What type of fish do we catch?

Although we specialize in catching Grouper and Snapper, we also have many sunken ship wrecks that we built to fish for Cobia, Permit, Barracuda, and Jewfish which are catch and release only. Many of these spots are known only to us and the catches often reflect that.

Thanks for visiting us onboard the Alabama. Please remember to bookmark us and come back when ever you desire to book a fishing charter in Naples Florida. We’re happy to serve all your sportfishing needs!

Great Offshore Fishing As Front Passes

Captain Curt Dafcik with 2 Grouper, Naples FL.Offshore fishing charters in Naples remains very good and is especially hot today, as this front passes through southwest Florida. Ledge fishing remains very good using live shrimp to catch gag grouper and mangrove snapper.

Thirty five miles offshore on some of the wrecks cobia can be caught using live pinfish or artificial plugs. The front that is passing by over super bowl weekend will give us a day off before regrouping on Monday.

We expect deep sea fishing to remain extremely good right through the spring.

Little Guys Like Fishing Too

Kids FishingWe get asked all the time, what age should children be to go on a deep sea fishing charter? The answer is there is no age limit. We normally take children of all ages but have found those about six and older can really have fun fishing and are able to catch fish. Our offshore charters will go into the Gulf of Mexico from 2 -40 miles depending on a host of conditions. We try our best to stay away from rough waters but that can’t always be avoided. For those times when the weather becomes poor our customers are happy to know that our boats come with an enclosed cabin and comfortable seating. The sides on our boats are high to prevent falling overboard, especially the little ones. When you go on a fishing charter out of Naples with us, rest assured our boats have been inspected annually by the U.S. Coast Guard to assure as much safety as possible in the open ocean. With all of our safety features and creature comforts, parents should feel at ease when fishing offshore with their children. Kids have fun fishing with us and are some of our best customers.

Snapper Fishing Takes Off

Charter fishing for SnapperLike clockwork, as Grouper season winds down in Naples, Mangrove Snapper fishing has taken off. Fishing charters going out the last few days have come back with nice limits of mangroves up to seven pounds. We have found the best way to catch snappers is to fish light lines with jigs tipped with shrimp. Allow the jigs to slowly fall to the bottom and then gently retrieve the baits back toward the surface and then let them free fall again. Keep this process up until you feel a bite. You should also keep an eye on your slack line during the drop and if you see a twitch in the line, strike. Most likely a mangrove has inhaled your bait and is heading home. We practice this style of fishing during the winter months and our deep sea fishing charter parties are extremely successful. Light line, slow movements and fresh bait are keys to catching mangrove snappers in cold waters during the winter months.
