Naples Deep Sea Fishing

Spring Break 2011 is in full swing in Naples and all of south Florida. As many from up north escape the winter cold up north and travel south in search of warmer weather, those already here are enjoying great weather and red hot fishing. On today’s fishing charter this young angler landed this six pound mangrove snapper fishing with us using a live shrimp on very light line. We have been bringing in limits of snapper on nearly all of our full day deep sea fishing charters into the Gulf of Mexico.

Spring breakers should continue to see red hot fishing in Naples throughout the spring.

Today’s fishing charter was graduates from the ” Ladies Lets Go Fishing” seminar that was held in Naples this weekend. Several local charter captains made presentations to the gals showing them various techniques of tackle and styles of fishing. For graduation they all chose to apply their new found knowledge on the waters with several Naples FL charter boat operators. The eleven ladies shown with Captain Kraig Dafcik decided to try offshore fishing where they caught lots of grouper and various types of snapper. A good time was had by all and many promise to return to Naples soon with their families for private charters.

The weather continues to be a big factor in Naples offshore fishing. The Gulf of Mexico waters are warming up nearly a degree a day and this causes the fish to feed long and often. These Illinois anglers went out with us and found the fishing very good. The water was extremely calm and clear and that makes mangrove snapper fishing very challenging. Mangrove snappers have very good eyesight so on bright days and in clear water southwest Florida fisherman have to come up with ways to fool the crafty mangroves. We drop down in line size and use really oily baits, such as sardines, to incite the snappers into a feeding frenzy.

King Mackerel will show up this week and we will be targeting them very soon.
